The keynote address was given by Prof. Dr. Ali Ahmad Fatimi, Chairman, Department of Urdu, Allahabad University, India. Papers read by Dr. Moinuddin Aqeel, Mr. Hamza Farooqi and Mr. Jazib Qureshi. In-House Seminar

The Centre hold a seminar in order to commemorate the birth centenary of renowned intellectual and writer Sain Ibrahim Joyo, to pay tribute to him and his academic work. The seminar was held on 10th August 2015 at the Pakistan Study Centre, University of Karachi. The following had spoken on the occasion.

The seminar was largely attended by the faculty, researchers & students of the University. On this occasion a book launching ceremony was also organized for Centre’s publication titled: A Great Engagement: Sindh, Joyo and Mehkri, compiled by Prof. M. Saleem Memon, keeping in view the birth centenary year of the renowned intellectual and writer.

Special / Guest Lecture Series

  • The Centre arranged a special two hours lecture of Mr. Zahid Farooq, Urban Resource Centre, Karachi, for the M.A. (Previous) students on “Urbanization and Transport Problems in Karachi” on 18th September 2015.

Mr. Muqtida Ali Khan, Educationist/Journalist was invited to deliver special guest lecture (two hours each) to M.A. (Final) students on “Local Government” on 18 and 19 November 2015.

One day National Conference on ‘Tareekh aur Jamhoriat’, held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Karachi, Karachi.

Papers read by Dr Mubarak Ali, Prof. Dr Syed Jaffar Ahmed, Prof. Dr Tauseef Ahmed Khan, Dr Riaz Ahmad Shaikh, Professor Ashfaq Saleem Mirza, Mr Muqtida Mansoor, Ms Sehar Gul, Mr Ahmad Salim and Mr M. Abid Abbasi.

Dr. Mubarak Ali introduced the theme of the conference and concluding remarks were given by Prof. Dr Moonis Ahmer, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Karachi.

Special / Guest Lecture Series

  1. A two hour special guest lecture was delivered by Prof. Richard Falk, Professor Emeritus in International law and practice, Department of Politics, Princeton University, U.S.A., for the M.A. students of the Centre on “Protecting the Global Public Interest in a State-Centric World Order”. The lecture was held on 26th August 2016 in the Pakistan Study Centre, University of Karachi.

 

The Centre arranged a special two hour lecture of Prof. Dr Tahir Masood, Dr Feroz Ahmed Institute of Mass Communication, University of Karachi, for the M.A. students on “Urdu Afsanay kay Rujhanaat” on 11th May 2016.

Book Launching Ceremony

A book launch ceremony of Centre’s publication titled: Pakistan Mein Tareekh Naveesi ka Tajziati Muta’la by Dr Huma Ghaffar, was organized by the Centre in Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, on 28th October 2016. The launching ceremony was presided by renowned historian Dr Mubarak Ali, and, Prof. Dr Syed Jaffar Ahmed, Dr Riaz Shaikh and Dr Hafeez Jamali, spoke about the book on this occasion.
